Where do you normally put your navigation links? Which do you/your users prefer more? Any thoughts?

My personal preference is to have a horizontal navigation menu somewhere toward the top of my web pages. I just like having more of the lower part of the screen used for actual content. I used to have a vertical navigation menu along the left side of my pages, but I just didn't care for how much space that seemed to waste on the page.

Just my $0.02.

Generally to the side because I have so much. But, if not that, the top is fine. Perhaps even a combination of both.

When I first started building my website and was exploring the different navigation menu options, I looked at slide out menus similar to this one (http://www.catfishpro.com/demos/slideout/staticslide.html). I've seen a menu similar to this one that would show sub-menus, but I'm unable to find it at the moment.

Anyway, if space is a problem on your web page, you might want to consider going this route. It looks pretty cool! Very Happy

I have the left navigation in some sites, left navigation in others and sometimes I combine the two of them. I think it all depends on the site design.

I change it depending on the style I design for the site. More often than not it's on the side.

It really depends on the site, but usually I do mine on the top.

I like the idea of putting them on a Navigation Bar running horizontal at the top of the forums.
