How many of you designers now code to XHTML, HTML 4.0 or CSS standards?

My last two sites are valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS compliant Smile

I did my last design which was quite simple in XHTML strict with CSS, but I found it very annoying, so I think I am going to stick with XHTML Transitional & CSS!

I design to meet the needs of my clients, which don't always translate into being able to follow standards. While I can and do use all these standards, I don't use any of them as a "rule". I use whatever is needed for the project.

Sadly, the most important standard is 508 compliance, which was left off this poll. The rest of these standards were decided to make a designer/developers life easier. 508 copmliance means accessable web sites for everyone, which is by far much more important. I've been trying my best to conver my sites to 508 compliance.

XHTML is what i would like to develop for.... but there are some simple things i can't help but stop doing.... like some of the alignment stuff, and other things that are just easy to put in HTML than code in CSS (sometimes, but not all the time Smile)

And i try and also make mine 508 compliance.

I do all my best to keep 4fourth generation browsers away. Keeping things to work well using XHTML and CSS2 is a nightmare when trying to make it run under IE as well as Mac. Badly, Microsoft browser seems to have hard moments with standards. But, that's the way it is.

Moreover, I try to put as much standards as I can, and 508 is my next step when dooing good sites.

Heres is my own site (http://www.accoladegraphi.com/) as you can see (or not) it is an elastic site. Increasing font size, also bring the site larger (as well as decreasing font size). Some bugs persist but I'll do my best to correct them.

I am now trying to code everything to validate to xhtml 1.0 strict as well as using correct css. Acessibilty is also soething that is greatly overlooked, and needs to be taken more serious within the development community.

Take the css file freely. The thing is that all measures are made in ems rather than px or other static measurment.

Enjoy !
